This little pot of joy is made with Morello Cherries which are the ones that are slightly darker than our common type of Cherry. 

From a dark red to crimsom to almost black the Morello Cherry is reputed for its strong taste which has a tang because it is more acidic from the other varieties. If you like it sour but still sweet this little conserve maybe just the right one for you.

You can use it as a wake me up jam,  by opening a lovely buttery croissant and spread it lavishly within it...

But the sourness being similar to the one of redcurrants or cranberries, a little pretty porcelain pot of Morello Cherry conserve is I find suitable to accompany a festive ham, or a spoonfull of it by the slice of a honey roast ham, for a quick snack or Brunch.

So the tart flavour of this Morello Cherry conserve can have many uses, I can tell you that.
