Mackerel has been called the Tiger of the Ocean/Seas because of its black stripes. Mackerel's colour are striking, the stripes on a glistening blue is a thing of wonder. But what is of wonder or wonderful is the taste of that humble Fish. It is rich but also full of Omega 3.
Being a Seaside Girl from origin, Mackerel was in the port of Cherbourg brought by the Fishermen, amongst over catches, but this was their main one, every Thursday. Therefore Mackerel was very often on the table of the Cherbourgeois.
Mackerel Fillets are tasty and versatile.
Pan Fried, Grilled, Barbecued, Baked, En Papillote, Roasted, Griddled, Boiled, in Soup, Paté the Mackerel is a Fish which can be used in different manners. My favourite way to do Mackerel is Barbecued.
